Power Wheels Dune Racer Review | 12 Volt Dune racer With Monster Traction
The Power Wheels Dune Racer with Monster Traction is not your average kids electric car. The Dune Racer is designed with off road tires, to explore and ride over dirt, grass, mud or gravel. Monster traction is designed to give this battery powered ride on superior performance on rough terrain and hills.
The 12 Volt Dune Racer has a steel frame, and seats two in it’s open cockpit, looking just like a real dune buggy. With two forward speeds and reverse, the Dune Racer can travel at 5 mph max, to keep young riders safe. It is larger in size than standard powered ride-on’s, so kids will have a little more leg room too.

Dune Racer Tires and Monster Traction
The Dune Racer tires are meant to handle more off road driving, such as grass and dirt. These tires have a deeper thread, but are still made of hard and hollow plastic. The rear tires are also larger for added traction.
So, although it grips better, do not expect superior performance in soggy or uphill conditions. It will still have optimal performance on smooth flat surfaces.

Power Wheels Dune Racer Ride-On Reviews from Buyers
Overall, reviewers didn’t find this ride-on toy perfect, but they really liked it just the same. Most buyers of the Dune Racer enjoy it, and kids have always loved driving in their own powered car.
Here is what some buyers of the Dune Racer Ride-On Car had to say:
Impressive in lots of ways – great engineering design, precision fitting parts, clear assembly directions, very sturdy then built, low to the ground for stability, looks cool, safe, (slowly) climbs a pretty steep hill behind my house with a 40 pound kid in it, makes me have to hussle to keep up with it on the sidewalk…
The traction is awesome and can go over or through MOST anything(wet long grass on a hill included)!!! It does really well with two kids in it and there is plenty of room..

Overall, Reviewers rated this 4.5 stars out of 5 Stars as a Fun Battery Operated Riding Toy for Kids
The Dune Racer ride-on is larger than some prior models, and has a fun and uncommon design that kids will enjoy. It looks more like a really dune buggy. Although the tires are not rubber, they do offer more thread for varied surfaces.
The 12 volt battery offers 2 speeds and a speed lock, so toddlers can safely travel at 2.5 without any fears they will get by you.
With a 130lb weight limit, lots of bigger kids, who may not want to admit it, will enjoy a ride in this dune racer too.
Like all things, the Dune Racer was not perfect. Here are some of the complaint buyers had about this car.
- No status indicator on battery for charge indicator.
- Wheels are still hollow plastic rather than rubber.
- Wheels can be noisy
- Harder for very young kids to maneuver in and out without a dashboard to lean on
